How to guide:
- identify and get in touch with a county councillor who might be sympathetic to the cause.
- they don’t have to be the councillor from your ward, anyone in the council is fine , or indeed in another local authority.
- explain this is a national campaign [you can share some information from our website like the Micheal Sheen video] ;
- ‘big up’ that other local authorities are considering the same Notice of Motion at the moment, so this is also spreading nationally!
- The councillor will know how to take it forward, so your job is done!

We ask that [eg.Cyngor Gwynedd ]support the campaign to devolve the Crown Estate in Wales. We believe the money from the Crown Estate should be directed into a Sovereign Wealth Fund and used for public benefit to support the needs of Welsh Communities. We call upon the Welsh Government to involve all stakeholders in the discussion around this issue and build a coalition of voices to persuade Westminster to devolve the Crown Estate as a matter urgency.

There is a strong mandate to devolve the Crown Estate in Wales. A YouGov poll in Spring 2023 showed a majority of Welsh voters in favour of devolving the Crown Estate, only 19% opposed this. Investing the profits from our natural resources into a Sovereign Wealth Fund for public benefit is widely perceived as an important step towards addressing the needs of the people of Wales.
In a community consultation and Emergency housing Conference in Machynlleth, organised by the grassroots organisation Siarter Cartrefi and supported by the Welsh Government,February 2023, devolving the Crown Estate was consistently raised as an important issue, and was one of ten recommendations forwarded to Welsh Government. It was also one of the recommendations in the National Infrastructure Commission for Wales report recently published.
Devolving the Crown Estate is seen as a way of addressing poverty in Welsh communities and as a way of building agency and resilience. Local Authorities are under huge financial pressure, historically under funded, devolving the Crown Estate is one significant step in addressing unfairness and lack of investment in Welsh communities. The Welsh Government supports the Devolution of the Crown Estate to Cymru.

Mewn ymgynghoriad cymunedol a Chynhadledd Tai Brys ym Machynlleth, a drefnwyd gan y sefydliad llawr gwlad Siarter Cartrefi ac a gefnogir gan Lywodraeth Cymru, Chwefror 2023, codwyd datganoli Ystâd y Goron yn gyson fel mater pwysig, ac roedd yn un o ddeg argymhelliad a anfonwyd ymlaen at Lywodraeth Cymru. Roedd hefyd yn un o’r argymhellion yn adroddiad Comisiwn Seilwaith Cenedlaethol Cymru a gyhoeddwyd yn ddiweddar.
Mae datganoli Ystâd y Goron yn cael ei ystyried yn ffordd o fynd i’r afael â thlodi yng nghymunedau Cymru ac fel ffordd o adeiladu asiantaeth a gwytnwch. Mae awdurdodau lleol o dan bwysau ariannol enfawr, yn hanesyddol heb eu hariannu, mae datganoli Ystâd y Goron yn un cam arwyddocaol o ran mynd i’r afael ag annhegwch a diffyg buddsoddiad mewn cymunedau yng Nghymru.
